Easter is around the corner, and in some parts of the world, the first signs of spring are already visible —daffodils, blossoms, and longer days. In South Africa, we’re heading into autumn, but the days are still gloriously mild with average highs of 23°C (73°F) and cooler evenings around 13°C (55°F).

Regardless of the season or hemisphere, Easter is a beautiful time of year. A long weekend of rest, possibly a church service or two, indulgent Easter eggs, and lazy, lingering meals—what could be better?

I’ve used the Summer Soirée tablescape box from Host the Event to create this Easter Brunch Tablescape, and I’m absolutely thrilled with how it turned out. 

Here are my 5 tips to recreate this look:

1. Start with a Light, Happy Base
A yellow and white gingham tablecloth is the perfect playful foundation—it’s bright & cheerful. Plus, it beautifully complements the floral arrangements and other table elements.

2. Go for Simple, Soft Florals
I used small (upcycled) glass bottles or jars as vases & filled them with pastel blooms & a touch of greenery. Think buttery yellow roses, delicate lisianthus, Billy Balls (or Billy Buttons, Craspedia globosa), and soft sprigs of foliage. Cluster the vases in odd numbers for an organic feel.

3. Add Subtle Easter Touches
Keep it elegant with understated Easter décor. I love these neutral-toned paper ornaments (from H&M home) & ‘bunny ears’ made with the napkins. Some easter eggs add just the right seasonal nod—without being overly themed.

4. Layer Your Place Settings
A tablecloth, placemat & statement plate give this setting a special touch. Finish each sitting with a neatly folded napkin, perhaps tied with a ribbon or fabric. Name cards always add a personal touch.

5. Play with Height and Texture
Create visual interest by mixing materials—glass, paper, ceramics, and flowers— and varying the heights of your elements.
